LED bulbs are the next generation in energy efficient lighting. LED bulbs are typically rated to last between 40,000 and 50,000 hours, while a typical Compact Fluorescent Bulb will last between 8,000-10,000 and a traditional incandescent will last around 2,000 hours. What do you want to look for in a quality LED? There are a few key items that you want to focus on. If you want to maintain the look of a traditional incandescent light bulb, you want to purchase a LED with a color temperature that is close to 2700K. If you prefer a cooler white, there are LED bulbs available with color temperatures up to 6500K. Next, you need to look at the lumens, which represents the amount of light given off by a light bulb. Finally, you want to look at lumens per watt or the efficacy. The higher the number, the more efficient the LED bulb.
